Back in August 2008 my Fiancé and I decided to get married and went in search of a place that we would call paradise.  Our main objective was to avoid having the headaches of organizing a wedding (we weren’t too worried about every intricate detail that easily takes over a wedding) but we did want to be able to give the day our special touch to make the day our own.

After researching extensively on the internet we were considering resorts in Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica, Fiji and Thailand (Rocky Resort).  In May 2009 we sent my mother (who lives in Australia) to the Rocky Resort in order to ensure that “what you see on the internet is what you get”.  She met with Rio Rose (the wedding coordinator), who welcomed her and showed her around the resort without a problem.  They went through a lot of the possibilities for the big day and showed her around the resort, including the reception room, the room where we would be staying and also the beach where we would be married.  Rio was so helpful and was always so attentive to our questions and requests.  We knew then that we’d made the right choice.

When we finally arrived to the resort in April 2010 Rio came to see us within the first 10 minutes of us getting to our room and arranged to meet with us the next day in order to go through any last details.  It was great to feel that throughout the whole week we were there before the wedding that Rio was so in control of everything, happy to answer any of our many questions and to help us out in any way that she could.  (One night, 10pm, my mother decided that she wanted a dress made for the wedding (3 days before the day), Rio not only took our call at 10pm but also arranged for us to have an appointment at a dress shop the next morning.  The owner of the dress store picked us up and dropped us off at the resort, the dress was made in three days and it was beautiful!)

During the week leading up to the wedding Rio arranged for us to meet the celebrant, the DJ and also for me to have a hair and makeup trial.  Rio was such a positive and professional person.  She really did make our day better than we could have dreamed of.  The resort also are able to do anything that you want, whether its specific flowers, what to say during the ceremony, what to serve after the ceremony, etc, they are very flexible. We had 40 people come from different places around the world to celebrate with us and every one of our guests told us how much they enjoyed not only the island but also the wedding celebrations at the Resort.  I would definitely recommend spending a week on the island before the wedding just to unwind from your hectic day to day life and get into holiday mode.

On the day we were both so relaxed and during festivities the people at the resort, coordinated by Rio,  were excellent organizing the flowers and decorations, serving the food (which was delicious), and just making the day one of the best and most memorable of our lives.

It’s difficult to imagine arranging a wedding from such a distance (we live in Switzerland) but it was so easy and it was the most relaxing holiday we’ve had in a long time.  It’s the best decision we made, having it at Rocky Resort.

Thanks again Rio for such a memorable day and thanks to all the people at the Rocky Resort.

We stayed at Rocky’s in March 2010 it was just beautiful the staff, rooms, food, pool, cocktails were just perfect. The reason we stayed there was our daughter was married at Rocky’s we were a little apprehensive about booking a wedding over the net but the wedding exceded all our expectations it was the most intimate emotional beautiful wedding that we have ever attended. Rio and her team did the most beautiful job we don’t have enough words to thank her. Our daughter and her new husband looked and felt like they were the most special couple on their special day. Everything was above our expectations. Rocky’s was the best place we have stayed in Thailand.

I stayed at Rocky’s for two nights for my wedding. The hotel is beautiful and the attention to detail in the rooms and the service is amazing. I went twice to the hotel before checking in to discuss the wedding, and on both occasions was offered fruit juice and a cold towel when I arrived.

The food was excellent.

The wedding co-ordinator Rio Rose is more than any bride could wish for. Nothing is too much trouble for Rio and her professionalism and friendly personality shone through right from my first email to the very end of the wedding. I would recommend a wedding at Rocky’s to anyone. My wedding was perfect.

My parner and I stayed at Rocky’s for 1 week before we were married in the resort. We were a little nervous to book over the internet but Rio Rose, the wedding coordinator, is excellent. She came to meet with us the moment we arrived to discuss the details of the ceremony and to go through our expectations for the big day. She arranged everything and eased our minds, which allowed us to have a great relaxing week before we walked down the aisle. I cant thank her, and the staff at the resort, enough for their excellent service and orangisation. The ceremony was beautiful.
There were 40 people in our party, some staying at Rocky’s and others staying at other resorts on the island. During the day our friends and I didnt want to leave the Rocky Resort and spent most of our week lounging around the pool and pool bar soaking up the sun. It was definitely the best holiday we’ve had in a long time. Our friends also commented about how great the hotel was.
During our stay my Mum wanted to get a dress made for the wedding and Rio and her team arranged for a tailor to collect us from the hotel and take us to his shop, where we browsed his collection of dresses, chose something and was measured in the one session. The tailor then dropped us back at the hotel. He then came back to the hotel and brought the work in progress dress for the two fittings so my Mum didnt have to go back to the shop. The dress turned out beautifully.
The resort is slightly away from the hustle and bustle of Chaweng and Lamai Beaches but the hotel has daily buses to take people to and from the hotel to the hotspots.
The hotel also has transfers to and from the airport at Baht 600 each way, the taxis will charge you normally Baht 700. The hotels driver can be booked to take you anywhere and can collect you when you’re ready. This made it easy for us to head out in the evenings if we wanted.
The food at the restaurant was exceptional. The breakfast was huge. You could have your choice of hot or cold foods. There was also a few chefs cooking all different types of eggs and pancakes to your liking. Also, most nights there was some sort of theme for dinner, including a thai traditional caberet or dance show. It wasn’t expensive, about Baht 800 (includes food and show). The food for the wedding was also great.

Overall, you cant beat falling asleep to softly flowing waves out side your door!
We will definitely go back!

Amazing. The wedding we dreamed of.

Myself and 30 others including my now wife stayed at Rocky’s recently as me and my wife were getting married at Rocky’s. I didn’t know what to expect of the wedding as all the organization was done over email or phone with a charming lady called Rio Rose. To say it went more the perfect is an understatement. It was my wife’s and mine dream day! Credit goes to Rio and the staff at Rocky’s for that.

As for the hotel it’s self, what people must remember is that this hotel is in a little bay which is called Rocky’s bay. The name should give it away as to what the sea in front of the hotel is like! As for the size of the beach, yes it is small but this is clearly shown on their website and it is also stated in many brochures too. They have two pools, one of which (the larger of the two) is the quiet pool. It was lovely and most of use sat around this of a day. We were regular offered water, and fresh fruit, all day long. There was staff there to deal with all your needs and as with most Thai’s they were smiley friendly people always willing to help. You was always supplied with two beach/pool towels every day which I found amazing.

The smaller pool was a lovely place to chill out and again the service was on tap. The smaller pool had the benefit of being very close to the bar which was serviced regularly again by happy locals who were warm and welcoming. We did have ever have an incident twice of being short changed. I raised this with the staff who didn’t really like me arguing with them, so I raised it with the manager who dealt with the matter resolved are short charge and made use aware that Thai people fill very offended if you tell them they are wrong. After this incident it was all forgotten and the staff were back to their normal happy self. This was but a blimp in an otherwise brilliant holiday.

As for the room, we had a Beachfront room. Yes it’s not on the beach but you open your door to the fantastic views of the sea and coastline. Amazing. The actual bedroom (306) we lovelly. A large room and bed with a good (not excellent) air con system. As for the bathroom. Wow is all I can say!! It is huge. It is supplied with some fantastic shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion and much more. As for a previous persons comments about mosquitoes, surely you should have used the electric plugging bug killer that is supplied in every room. Also when they turn down your bed (lovely touch) they light some incense in the bathroom as well to kill off the bugs!! As we had other guest with us I also show the different rooms. Some friends stayed in one of the villas and it was magnificent. Their villa led straight down to the large pool.

With regards to the restaurant, if I had one negative about the hotel it is the restaurant and their prices. I was charged 380bht for a burger and handful of chips!! Even the Thai food such as a green curry was around the 250bht mark. Maybe my problem was that I had arrived at Rocky’s after being on Koh Lanta for 4 nights which was……..slightly cheaper ; ). Drink was fairly priced, slightly higher then outside but this is to be expected.

Moan over. As for the actual food, everything was brilliant really really good. We had meals there a couple of times and one time that was most notable (apart from the wedding meal) was the BBQ night. The food was out of this world.

Finally after our wedding we used the function room which is brilliant, cool, decorated very well. This was where we had the meal/speeches/party and it catered for all our needs and some. We had the room till 1 after that we thought the party would stop. This was not the case as we had some money left on our bar tab which they happily put into a couple of ice boxes and allowed us to drink them by the pool and even allow us to use the pool. Great way to finish of a brilliant day.

Again I can only sing Rocky’s praises along with Rio the wedding planner, Noi, Pooh, Boat, Chart and many more of the staff at Rocky’s. If you are planning to get married in Thailand I stronger recommend you consider this hotel as I have nothing but really happy memory’s not just of the special day but our whole stay

We chose to have our wedding at Rockys based on reading hundreds of reviews, and we are so SO GLAD we did. We arrived on March 5th for twelve nights to Rockys and immediately we felt at home, any anxiety we had about the wedding was put to rest on our first meeting with Rio Rose, the lady is amazing, she is platinum!!
The wedding day itself was magical, we had rain but that didn’t dampen the mood or the fun of the day. Every one at Rockys are so professional, the day went so smoothly without any glitches, they make everything look so easy and flawless.
I had no worries handing my hair and make up to a lady I had never met before to do, she just went ahead and did a fantastic job. We loved the pictures Tom the photographer took, he was so professional and got on with the job without us even knowing he was there. He gave us all our photos on a disc which are beautiful. John whom conducted our service was so friendly and warm and welcoming too. The flowers were out of this world, just so beautiful, and beautifully arranged. A BIG THANK YOU to Noi whom was our waitress for the reception meal, she was so pleasant and helpful another gem to this beautiful place. We were very excited to be able to thank the wonderful chef whom prepared our food, the food is like nothing I have ever tasted before, absolutely amazing!! All our guests thoroughly enjoyed our wedding at Rockys and the experience they had there too.
We were very sad to say good bye on March 17th, but we left Rockys knowing without a doubt in our minds that we will return next year.
Rockys is tranquil and calm, with fantastic management and staff. They go the extra mile in getting to know their guests, from little touches like cool towels and fruit by the pools to the staff and guest cocktail evening on Fridays, which makes this hotel stand out on its own.
If any bride and groom to be, are reading this review thinking about where to have a wedding do not hesitate, go for it at Rockys!! Rio is amazing, she and all the other staff will make you feel like a King and Queen on your special day.
Thanks again to EVERYONE working at Rockys for the most amazing stay in paradise.

We will be back again and again and again…

In 2008 both my Fiancée and I spent several months researching wedding locations in Samui. After compiling a list of 12 resorts (Rocky’s being one of them) we decided in early 2009 to hop on board a plane and pay a visit to Samui to find our perfect wedding location as well as taking in the amazing atmosphere Samui has to offer… We spent most of our day’s ticking off our wedding destination list until we reached Rocky’s Resort. Within two steps of the entrance I squeezed my partners hand and she looked over at me (goose bumps where tingling through her body) and it was then we knew that this was not only the location we had been dreaming of but the place we were going to exchange our wedding vows and become husband and wife. We then proceeded to reception where we were greeted with such a warm welcome. We requested to speak with someone about hosting our wedding at Rocky’s and after being seated within minutes we were greeted by Rio Rose (Rocky’s wedding co-ordinator) Rio was such a positive person, she is professional but not only that she listens to your every request… We had gathered all the relevant information we required to make our decision and went on our way (with a grin from ear to ear)…

Once we arrived home we picked the date March 27th 2010, emailed Rio and the ball was rolling…

We spent 12 months liaising back and forth with Rio via email to co-ordinate the big day and I must mention how amazing Rio was to deal with… We thought it would be hard to co-ordinate such a big event via email but Rio had it down to a tee…

It was time to board the plane for Koh Samui for our wedding and also our first time to actually stay at the resort… We arrived mid March at Rocky Resort and checked into our beautiful Deluxe Ocean View Suite. The view was magnificent, the rooms where very comfortable and the attention to detail across the whole resort is so magnificent and in its own right extremely an original outlay… The staff are efficient, kind hearted and all round beautiful people and the food was absolutely amazing.

Come the wedding day Rio had everything running smooth and she really co-ordinated everything so, so well… The ceremony and reception exceeded our expectations a million times over…

All round we have not one bad memory from our experience at Rocky’s and we highly recommend Rocky Boutique Resort for either a place to relax and kick back with a magnificent atmosphere and experience through to hosting the biggest day of your lives being a beautiful beach wedding… 5 star experience… We will be back again and again and again…

We stayed at Rockys for the second time in February. This trip was with family as we were there to get married. Rockys was as excellent as we remembered. Everyone is so helpful and friendly and will go out of their way to may your stay as relaxing as possible. We stayed with both our sets of parents and also my sister and her partner and my husbands sister and partner. They had all stayed in other resorts in Thailand before joining us and all agree that Rockys outshines the rest!
The attention to detail and the genuine staff friendliness is second to none.
Our wedding was outstanding and all our family and friends had a lovely day, if only it could have lasted longer.
We will definitely be back to Rockys in the near future. Maybe for our first wedding anniversary!

We celebrated our wedding in February 2010 at Rocky’s, and we must say – from start to finish – it was truly wonderful! The resort itself is beautiful, private and very relaxed. The staff were excellent – really helpful with all our requests, and with a large group of 40 guests, and lots of different events throughout the week – we still can’t believe everything went perfectly. This is mainly due to the excellent organizational skills of Rio Rose, their exceptional wedding co-ordinator, who thinks of every little detail and manages to stay smiling and relaxed throughout all the stress that is surely going on behind the scenes as well! Before the wedding day itself, she helped us organize a gorgeous Beach BBQ Buffet, which I recommend to big groups as it was very impressive! We also had separate Hen and Stag Dos (massages and a Thai Cooking class for the girls, and a Fishing Trip for the boys), and also a big post-wedding lunch – so we pretty much kept her busy all week! Even though we were there right in the midst of peak wedding season, and she had a few other weddings coming up that week, she always made us feel extra special and catered to every request instantly.

The food at Rocky’s is amazing, presented beautifully and there was always plenty of it! I have to mention particularly the wedding phuket lobster which we had at the wedding meal, as it was outstanding. The beach was decorated beautifully for the ceremony, and the reception itself was great fun. Indeed, the staff were very accommodating as we danced late into the night!

All in all, we can’t think of a better place to have a beach wedding, and thanks again to all the staff for making our special week even more incredible!
